Grape Jam

My parents bought me a box of concord grape couple days ago and knowing that my husband is not a big fan of grapes with seeds, I figured that I can't finish this all by myself!

So I decided to make some grape jam! We ran out of jam too so it was perfect!

Honestly, I referenced few recipes but didn't follow ANY of it. All the recipes I found said to put 2 CUPS of SUGAR... I love sugar but not THAT much. Plus the grapes my parents got me are sweet enough.

So this is what I did!

1. Take 2 baskets of grapes (about 4 cups of grapes) and wash them in a large bowl. Wash at least 3 times with clean water to make sure you get rid of all the tiny bugs and dirt.

2. Separate the grapes and stems. Throw away the stems and any bruised grapes. Put the cleaned grapes in to a large pot. Turn the heat on high and mash the grapes. Once it starts to bubble, turn the heat to low.

3. Keep stirring with a spoon while still mashing the grapes. After about 30-40 minutes strain out all the seeds and grape skins. You might need to mash it a bit more using strainer to get all the juice out from the skin.

4. Stir for another 30 minute to an hour checking the thickness of the grape juice. The trick I read and used was to put a drop of grape juice on a chilled plate and put it in the fridge for a minute and take it out and see if the grape juice runs when you slant the plate.

5. Once the grape juice is thick enough take it off from the heat and let it chill in a pot. And then, pour in a jar. Or in my case, all my jars were being used so I just put it in a tupperware. Then store it in a fridge. Before eating, let it sit in a fridge for a day for a better tasting jam!!

6. After a day of waiting. Enjoy your grape jam with a bread!

Again, I am terrible at giving instruction on making food. I never measure anything. Just go with my instinct!

Anyways, my first attempt at making grape jam was a success! :D

Preparing for Halloween Day

We have 12 days left till Halloween!! What are you doing for Halloween? What are you dressing up for Halloween?

I'm going to hand out candies to little kids!!

Yayaya, most of you might say, "oh, that's boring!" But this is what I enjoy and miss doing! I've gone clubbing wearing costume with shortest skirt, got pissed drunk at parties, threw Best Halloween Costume contest and watched scary movies all night with bunch of friends. This year, I want to dress up Ellye and hand out candies to little kids wearing their cute costumes! :) Plus, it's Ellye's first Halloween with us! :D

To do that, I got to let the kids and their parents know that my house (I mean my parents house since I live in apt) is giving out candies on Halloween night! Soooooo I've been working on some paper craft decorations to put on a window! Check it out!

It's still in progress so I will be making more of them! Also, going to carve 4 pumpkins! I think it's going to be a fun yet relaxing Halloween this year~ :)

Nail art is not easy!

After reading Kailyn's blog, on "Nail Polish Marbline Tutorial", I decided to give it a try! It seemed easy and fun! Honestly, it was not easy. It was fun but I kept messing up and having to do it over again. Even my husband came out from the working room and said "I think you are doing it wrong..." So I removed and re-did it!

Annnnndddd, here is the final result! Tada!

I know it looks messy and terrible but not ALL are. Lol! Go check out Kailyn's nail here. She sure is pro at it!!!
And these two are my favorite out of all.

Now you go try!!!!

Oh and here is something to laugh about. My husband and I found her sleeping like this in middle of watching a movie. We had to pause the movie and take a picture. Lol.

Tonkatsu aka. Pork Cutlet

Who is hungry for some tonkatsu? It's super easy and fun to make! :D

I like to make a bunch at once and put them in the freezer for lazy nights!

All you need is slices of pork, flour, eggs, bread crumbs, salt and pepper! First, I like to prep everything. One bowl for flour with little bit of salt and pepper. Another bowl for eggs. Last bowl for bread crumbs. As for the bread crumbs, I like to just take slices of regular white bread and toast and grind them. Don't have to go buy one of those special "bread crumbs" that they sell in stores. It's even more tastier with white bread! My husband said so! ;)

After prepping, I tenderize slices of pork with a dull knife. Usually you use meat tenderizer but I don't own one. And dull knife works just as well! Then, you take a slice of tenderized pork and cover it with flour mix and to eggs and to bread crumbs. And you can either cook them right away or store them in freezer!

It's really simple! You should try making them too! :)

Oh and don't forget to eat it with either tonkatsu sauce or ketchup! Enjoy! :P
